Dear friends and family,
About two years ago, I read a book by Pastor David Platt that radically awakened me to the vast physical and spiritual needs of the world. The book comprises David's journals and stories as he treks through the mountains of South Asia, challenging his faith, opening his eyes to the desperate needs of the world, and ultimately leading him to fall before the Lord in devotion, claiming, "Something Needs to Change."
The reality is: 3.2 billion people are born, live, and die with limited to no access to the Word of God, a church, or a community of Christians. That's roughly 40% of the world's population! These people constitute what missiologists label 'unreached people groups (UPGs).' Sadly, South Asia claims over 50% of UPGs.
As I read the book, my heart broke to think of the many men, women, and kids who presently have no chance of hearing the name of Jesus. And then I remembered a quote by William Wilberforce in relation to the hateful slave trade issue:
I knew that if something didn't change in my life, I would be responding to such a tragedy with… "It's fine. Not my issue. The missionaries have it all under control." The truth is: As a disciple of Christ, I am just as responsible for reaching UPGs with the gospel as any full-time overseas missionary.
Since then, I have devoted time to studying God's heart for the nations, praying for UPGs daily, and seeking opportunities to awaken the American church to the world's spiritual needs. However, it does not stop here. I have the opportunity to GO, and what a privilege it is to join God's global mission with my hands and feet.
Therefore, I have decided to join Mercy Hill Church (a Summit Church plant) to experience the same journey that shook David's life 8 years ago. Through the sustaining work and empowerment of the Spirit, I am taking the gospel where it has never been heard. But I cannot fulfill this task alone…
Please join me on this journey in prayer and financial support. Through generously supporting me, YOU have the opportunity to take the gospel where it has not been heard. Let's make Heaven crowded together!
